Initiation at the Hanging Chapel
Portcullis Lodge recently initiated John Penfold into their ranks. John was a very confident candidate and very much enjoyed his Initiation ceremony. His Brother Edward who is from the Province of Devon came along support his Brother. The Master of the lodge John Nicholas in his first ceremony after installation in the Chair led his team of officers in fine style. The ritual on the night was of a very high standard (not biased at all) Mike Laird Junior Deacon led the candidate around the Chapel in a confident manner. Dom Smyth Riberio performed the Charity Charge in the North East Corner in splendid fashion. Rob Isaacs performed his first piece of ritual explaining the Working tools to his friend and now Brother and the Charge after initiation was presented by the Junior Warden as is the tradition of Portcullis.
The Festive Board was a sumptuous Carvery at the Langport Arms, where the Lodge has held it’s after meeting meal since we were consecrated nearly 140 years ago and in fact before we took on the lease at the Hanging Chapel we held our meetings there too.
