Road Trip to Wales to Present 50 Year Certificate

Two members from Nyanza Lodge meeting at Ilminster, Chris Cornelius (Lodge Almoner) and Roy Harkness (Assistant Director of Ceremonies) took a trip to Llansantffraid, not too far from Oswestry in North Wales, to visit, on behalf of the Worshipful Master and Brethren of Nyanza, Bro. Guy Biddescombe. He is a member of the Lodge, and had attained 50 years’ service to Freemasonry. As he has not been able to attend the Lodge for many years due to his health, the purpose of the visit was to present his 50 Year Certificate from Province.
They set off from Ilminster and travelled to Oswestry, where they had booked a couple of rooms for the night and with Framed Certificate in hand, along with a 50 Year Badge and congratulatory letter from Our Provincial Grand Master (PGM), Ray Guthrie, they set off to this beautiful hilly village and found his bungalow, near to the village Church.
Chris presented Guy with his Certificate and Roy presented the PGM’s letter and Badge. Guy was so pleased and taken back that two Past Masters of the Lodge had taken so much trouble to deliver his prized Certificate.
After a little more reminiscing, all three went to a local hostelry and Guy was treated to a very tasty lunch and a welcome beer. Both Chris. and Roy have been invited back, and may well decide to take up the offer as the area has not been fully explored by either of them.
