King Alfred Charity night
King Alfred Lodge in Weston held its Christmas social in the Weston Masonic Hall. With the safety of brethren and their family a priority for us all at this current time it was important to make sure that all precautions were taken. The Masonic hall at Weston requires the wearing of masks at all times, except when eating or drinking, and all those attending were required to have a negative lateral flow test.
With this all in place, there were a few brethren who were still too cautious to attend, but for those that did there was the opportunity for everyone to have an enjoyable evening leading up to Christmas. It was also the first time for many wives and partners to see the super alterations that were made to the anti room and bar area of the Masonic Hall during lockdown.
With so many Christmas dinners of turkey at this time of year, the Master W Bro Steve Taylor chose gammon as a change, which thanks to the chef, turned out to be a success.
The entertainment of the evening was organised by W Bro Toby Hammond and included Carols, a Christmas Quiz, some Bingo, a number of prize draws and a special Christmas raffle.
The evening raised a splendid £570 for the Master’s chosen charity of the Children’s Hospice South West.
