The last meeting of Cornucopia Lodge No 9043
Tuesday September 14th 1982 – Tuesday December 14th 2021 – 39 years
This is to report the very sad closure of Cornucopia Lodge No 9043, who handed in their warrant at their regular meeting in December 2021.
The lodge was founded by various brethren who were engaged in the distribution of fruit and vegetables within Bristol and North Somerset, and who wanted to extend their Masonic fellowship. Preliminary arrangements were started in 1981, and on Tuesday September 14th 1982, Cornucopia was consecrated as a Lodge.
The motto on the banner reads motto “Uberimma Fides” and roughly translates as “Our word is our bond”
Before handing in the warrant, the lodge was very pleased to ask W Bro Martin Slocombe (APGM) to present the worshipful master, W Bro Garry Watts with a past masters jewel.
The final meeting was well attended, with support from over 30 visitors from at least 14 different lodges, many of which are to be found meeting in Keynsham. It’s strange to say that everyone enjoyed the final meeting as this sounds uncaring, but given the gravitas of the occasion everyone was in good spirts and marked the occasion well.
We wish the brethren of Cornucopia Lodge the very best in finding other lodges to join should they wish to do so, and wish them well in their personal and Masonic futures.
