Meets at 18:45 except April, on the first Tuesday of the month at Nailsea Masonic Hall
Months : Feb, Mar, Apr (Installation 17:30), May, Oct, Nov and Dec
Tyntesfield Lodge received its warrant in 1922 and was formed by Masons in the local community as well as from the Bristol area. The Lodge follows a unique ritual based on a mix of emulation and Bristol workings, which is known as “Tyntesfield Workings”. From its name, Tyntesfield obviously had some connection with the Tyntesfield Estate based in nearby Wraxall and the Gibbs family who once owned it. Indeed, the Lodge banner bears the Arms of “Gibbs of Tyntesfield in the County of Somerset and Clyst, St. George in the County of Devon” and “Gibbs of Clifton Hampden Oxfordshire”. The Motto “Tenax Propositi” translates to “Firm of Purpose” Since the formation of Tyntesfield Lodge, the Masonic community in Nailsea has grown due to the foresight of our founding members who purchased the present Masonic Hall building in 1923. This now hosts all craft and side degree lodges based in Nailsea.
We are a small Lodge whose members are from all walks of life and we encourage the involvement of any wives and partners in the social activities of the Lodge. These normally include a Christmas meal in December, Burns nights and other events such as the Ladies night for the current WM. We like to support local charities within Nailsea or nearby towns and villages where possible e.g. Wraxall Children’s hospice, local scout group, Nailsea park shelter, to name but a few.
Any potential Member can be from any age group (usually 21 years +) and can reside in the local area or from further afield. New members will be made very welcome and will be able to progress through the various offices with support from experienced members if they wish to follow this path.
