LCO / CLO / ACO GUIDE RE LODGE AND CHAPTER NEWS ARTICLE SUBMISSIONS.

Ordinarily, Lodge or Chapter events / news articles should be reported via the Lodge Communications Officer (LCO) or Calderley Liaison Officer (CLO) responsible for that Lodge or Chapter, using the following simple format.

If the article is not suitable for press release but is suitable for the Craft & Chapter websites etc, the LCO / CLO should send it by email for the attention of their Area Communications Officer (ACO) to news@pglsom.org whereupon it will be published via the appropriate Provincial news platforms.            The email must include the full news article, attached as a Word document  (not PDF), together with separate photo attachments.

If the article is suitable for submission to external press and media titles, the LCO / CLO should submit a suitably written article, again as a Word document with separate good quality photo attachments (consented for use) to the relevant local press / media titles. The appropriate ACO can advise and assist with this if required.      Post it on the Lodge / Chapter Social Media (SM) platforms too, where they exist.

Articles submitted to external media titles must also be notified to the ACOs via news@pglsom.org  (ideally the same day). Include the article and photo attachments as submitted, and to which press / media titles they were sent.

FYI. Emails sent to the Provincial email address   news@pglsom.org  are received by Provincial Craft & Chapter Comms Teams, Web teams, IT, SM and Newsletters.

It is vital to use the news@pglsom.org  email address for all article submissions.       It ensures that the article is immediately notified for potential publication on Provincial Craft / Chapter Websites, Newsletters, Social Media and consideration for submission to the FMT / MCF national magazines.

One correctly addressed email to news@pglsom.org enables all of this!!!

The Provincial Communications Officer (PCO) monitors all successful press releases notified Provincially or by the UGLE Comms Team, who, in turn, collate all Masonic media releases as part of the UGLE current strategies’ performance monitoring.

The use of news@pglsom.org  also acts as a failsafe in the event that the appropriate team member doesn’t, or can’t, receive the emailed article for any reason, e.g. sickness, holiday etc.

In this event, it will be picked up and actioned by another team member on their behalf, rather than becoming an opportunity lost.
