Andrew takes to the Chair at Tivoli Lodge
On a lovely Saturday morning Andrew Richards was installed as the new WM of Tivoli Lodge in fine form by the outgoing Master Chris Millard. The transition between Chis and Andrew was seamless, as Andrew went on to install his officers for the ensuing year. Many of whom were “light blues” which is excellent.
One of the many highlights of the day was the presentation of each set of the Working Tools. which were presented in superb fashion!
Steve Collings the SGW was there representing the PGM RWBro Ray Guthrie, ably assisted by the ever hard working Steve Jepps Prov AGDC.
Steve Collings then awarded the 2031 Festival Jewels to several of the members, saying how important the Festival is and how much money is raised and how much is returned to the Province.
As is the way at Tivoli Lodge, the wives, partners and family members join with the members at the Festive Board, making it feel a real “Family Affair”! In this case Andrew had his Mum, Dad (Mike Dew a former Master of Tivoli) and two Brothers there with their respective partners.
The day also marked a special moment for Ian Evans as Andrew was a an old friend of his, they met some 54 years ago when they lived across the road from each other in Locking Village. They had lost contact over the years but when Andrew became a Freemason he discovered that Ian was also a Freemason and they reconnected, which was fantastic for the old friends. Ian said as much, as he was allowed to add some words during the toast to Andrew by Justin Pursey. Ian also said how nice it was to see Andrew’s two brothers again after all this time!
The table decorations were also superb, as shown by Heidi Pursey, who also lived in Locking and knew Andrew and Ian as they all went to Locking Primary school together in the 70s.
Ian also went on to say that through life you meet people who you think are a great person and friend, sadly lose contact for various reasons, then some years later you meet them again at a Masonic meeting – being a Freemason must run in the DNA, of good people!
