The best laid plans of mice and men…

As Robert Burns noted, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”. The careful planning for King Alfred Chapter’s June meeting was out of the window when through unavoidable circumstances key participants were unable to attend. With this meeting being the last opportunity for the current Principals to lead the team through the exaltation ceremony, a little help from the visiting members of the Provincial Team was welcomed, with E. Comp. Tony Rash, PrDepGDC gladly stepping in to cover the duties of Chapter DC.

With the election of the new Principals and other admin completed, the Chapter proceeded to exalt Bro Adam Foster-Fahy into the Royal Arch. The three sojourners, Comps Steve Poland, Danny Bomford-Glaysher and Garry Hawkes delivered their parts of the ceremony with dignity and assurance, and the Chapter welcomed Comp Adam with the visual display inherent to the exaltation ceremony.

But that wasn’t all for the evening, as with the ME Comp Ray Guthrie, Grand Superintendent present, there was the opportunity to present a pair of SGC certificates, One to a recent exaltee Comp. Jonathon Henderson, and one to Comp. George Reed, who was exalted some years ago under the German Constitution, but now as a joining member is entitled to an SGC certificate.

With 22 members and 17 visitors attending, The Companions retired to the dining room for an enjoyable festive board. The Pictures show Comp. Foster-Fahy with ME Grand Superintendent Ray Guthrie and the Principals, Nathan Henderson (Z), Tony Wilsher-Day (H) and James Joyce (J) and also MEGS with Comps Jonathon Henderson and George Reed after receipt of their SGC certificates.
