Doing The Magic At 261

Freemasonry was never set up for the purposes of charity, but that said, Freemasons are very good at it! Through its teaching and explanation of Freemasons’ role and purpose in both life and society, comes a realisation of a responsibility to help those less fortunate than themselves and therein lies the magic.

Immediate Past Master Pete Richards led the drive to raise money for his (the Master’s Charity) throughout his year in the Chair through a number of events which, along with matched funding from Province, meant that at the meeting on the 20th May, Pete was pleased to be able to present a cheque for £2000 to Mr Alan Reeve, Chairman of the Taunton branch of Cancer Research UK. This money will go towards supporting important research and trials currently taking place locally in Musgrove Park hospital’s Beacon Centre, which provides treatment and support to the Taunton and West Somerset area. So it is hoped that members of the local community will soon see the benefits of this important work being carried out.

Finally, Pete would like to acknowledge the generosity and support of the members of, and the visitors to, the Lodge of Unanimity and Sincerity No.261 in raising this incredible amount of money for such a worthy cause.
