Coleridge Performs A Treble At Clevedon – April 2026
It was in 1957 that Coleridge Lodge last performed a multiple initiation and, on that occasion, it was for twin brothers, the last time that the lodge initiated three new members on one evening was in 1916, 110 years ago. That all ended on the 8th April 2026 when Coleridge Lodge initiated three new members on the same evening. Regretfully the Worshipful Master was unable to be present, and the Ceremony was conducted to an extremely high standard by W Bro Peter Niccol PPrGStB.

The real problem of initiating more than one candidate at a time is room but with a little movement of furniture this was achieved. Coleridge Lodge was incredibly grateful that several members of Southey Lodge also attended the meeting and assisted in the ceremony With W Bro Andy Farmer presenting the Charity Charge and W Bro Fred Day the Charge after Initiation, a splendid example of how Lodges can assist each other.

The evening was further enhanced by the presence of several members of Royal Edward Lodge No 4140 meeting at Avonmouth and a lodge that Coleridge Lodge has long had connections with.

W Bro Peter Osborne is an Honorary Member of both Lodges; he was Hall Manager at Avonmouth Masonic Hall for many years and a Past Master of the Lodge. He joined Coleridge Lodge and became Secretary of the Lodge in 2003 and serving in that office until 2020.
Due to mobility problems Peter now resides in a Care home at Portishead, no longer needing his regalia he wished to return it to the Lodge. It was collected by brethren from Royal Edward Lodge, who in turn wished to visit Coleridge Lodge to return the Coleridge regalia to the Lodge.

W Bro David Langley made the presentation, and he was thanked by W Bro Peter Niccol for his effort in returning it to Coleridge Lodge.
Coleridge Lodge are intending to make a return visit to Royal Edward Lodge in the next Masonic season.
