A Tale of Two Brothers at K.A Chapter

For most, the name Henderson is synonymous with dedication and relentless hard work
within Freemasonry, well the companions at King Alfred Chapter were treated to a delightful
story on Monday 23rd March, when Nathan Henderson, the current First Principle Z of the
chapter, exalted his brother Jon into Royal Arch using the new Savage Ritual.
If we rewind for just a minute, it was Jon who helped initiated his brother into Freemasonry
back in the early 2000’s by delivering the 1 st degree working tools and also assisted in his 2 nd
and 3 rd degree ceremony, well for this evening the roles were reversed.
There was also a beautiful ode to their father being that a lit candle and his original jewel
was present in the temple with them, Jon also had his father’s and grandfather’s aprons
stitched together to form one. This was used during the ceremony and really demonstrates
the belonging and togetherness in Freemasonry.
The provincial team headed up by MEGS Ray Guthrie also visited on this evening, most of
who actually took part in the ceremony which was an excellent experience for the
companions present. It was this provincial team who also led Jon’s raising so another nice
connection back.
An excellent evening which concluded with an always cheerful Festive Board.
Until next time…
