Fellowship, Celebration & New Beginnings at Quantock Chapter 4446

The February meeting of the Quantock Chapter 4446, Watchet, proved to be a truly uplifting and memorable occasion, filled with warmth, good humour, and the unmistakable spirit of Royal Arch companionship. With both an Installation and an Exaltation taking place, the Chapter room was alive with colour, ceremony, and genuine brotherly support.

The evening began with the Installation of Companion Sam Sheasby into the Chair of Joshua. This ceremony took place at the February meeting because Sam had been unable to attend the Chapter’s installation meeting last September. Despite the unusual timing, the Installation was carried out with dignity, precision, and the friendly atmosphere that defines Quantock Chapter. Sam accepted the office with his characteristic calm confidence and good humour, and the Chapter now looks forward to seeing his progression throughout the year as he brings his energy and commitment to the role.

Following the Installation, the Chapter turned its attention to welcoming a new Companion. Brother Chris Nevada was exalted into the Royal Arch with sincerity, enthusiasm, and a clear appreciation for the depth of the ceremony. The Chapter performed the Savage Working for only the second time, and the officers delivered it with care, clarity, and a genuine desire to make the evening meaningful for Chris. Surrounded by the vibrant robes of the Principals and the rich symbolism of the Chapter room, he experienced the full splendour of the Royal Arch. Chris was welcomed warmly into the companionship of Quantock Chapter 4446, and the Chapter looks forward to supporting him as he continues his Masonic journey.

The evening concluded with a fantastic festive board, where the atmosphere was relaxed, the food excellent, and the conversation flowed effortlessly. A highlight of the night came when Companion David Gardner, Chris’s proposer, recited a poem he had written following his own Exaltation in 2024. Delivered with humour and heart, it added a personal and memorable touch to the celebrations and was warmly received by all present. Laughter, toasts, and genuine fellowship filled the room – the perfect end to a night celebrating both tradition and new beginnings.

With a newly installed Joshua and a newly exalted Companion, Quantock Chapter 4446 moves forward strengthened and energised. The Chapter is delighted to note that at least two further Exaltations are expected before the end of the Masonic year, a testament to its vitality and the enthusiasm of its members.

The evening was a reminder of what makes the Royal Arch so special: shared experience, personal growth, and the enduring bonds of companionship. Here’s to Sam, to Chris, and to many more evenings just as memorable.
