Is there a Local Charity the MCF can support?

Is there a local charity that you would like the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) to consider supporting? The MCF have grant programmes supporting:

Early Years (0-5), with a focus on poverty and neglect. The early years (ages 0-5) of a child’s life have a lifelong impact on their physical, social, and emotional development and children who are behind in meeting their developmental milestones at this young age are more likely to experience poorer health, education and employment outcomes when they are older.

Children affected by Domestic Abuse, Household domestic violence is one of the most reported Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by adults in the UK (Bellis et al, 2014). ACEs are events during childhood that are stressful and can negatively impact a child’s future development, including their mental and physical health, future job opportunities and earning potential.

Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Government data released in 2023 identified over 1.5 million pupils in England as having Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Children’s Commissioner’s 2023 survey found that children with SEND are more likely than other children to say they often or always felt lonely. They often have to wait a long time to get the help they need and
sometimes not until they have reached crisis. Accessibility is another key barrier; very often
playgrounds, toilets, public transport or leisure activities are not designed with the needs of
disabled children in mind. They do not always get the help they need at school and pupils
with SEND have suspension rates four times higher than pupils with no SEND.
