Vivary Lodge Scouting For Donations

North Taunton Scout Group is one of the oldest surviving Scout Groups in Taunton. The Scouts have been based in their huts adjacent to the St Andrew’s Church Hall in Taunton for several decades. Understandably, given the huts have been occupied and in constant use for over 50 years, they are in urgent need of renovation and updating to ensure they continue to provide a safe and secure base for the Scout Group to operate and flourish. To this end, Vivary Lodge, Taunton has been pleased to donate £2000 towards the hut renovations over the last two years, which has helped alleviate the immediate concerns around the huts and make a part of them habitable again. The most recent presentation of £1000 took place at the Scout Huts, where the current Vivary Worshipful Master Ed Richings was accompanied by Past Master Richard Wilson and Treasurer Bhuvi Bhalla (a former Trustee of the Scout Group) in presenting a cheque to Sarah Milstead, Scout Group Lead Volunteer.
The Scout Group huts renovation is an ongoing project and it is hoped Vivary Lodge and possibly other Taunton Lodges will continue to support the Group in future, to make the huts fully operational, especially as the money is making a real and direct contribution to the local community. This will also enable the Group to bring more young people into Scouting as they are currently restricted by the lack of space.
