Alistair Lindsay earns his Working Tools Challenge Gold Badge in one go!
The Tennyson lodge October meeting was dedicated to demonstrations, and for those that haven’t seen the First degree Tracing Board, an opportunity to make a daily advancement in masonic Knowledge.
Item 5 on the summons was to open and close in the second and third degrees, and to receive presentations of the working tools in all 3 degrees.

With the Provincial Grand Masters Working Tools Challenge in mind, the lodge conspired with Brother Alistair Lindsay, so that he could earn his gold badge on a single evening.
Alistair did a truly excellent job of the first and second degree tool, but his masterpiece was the third degree tools, for which there wasn’t so much as a comma out of place.
The Worshipful Master on behalf of himself and the lodge congratulated Alistair on his superb ritual. Well done Alistair 🙂
Later in the evening the Provincial Grand Masters Working Tools Challenge was explained in a little more detail; it is to present the Working Tools in each of the three Degrees.
Matt Westley added to the explanation, that, and for the benefit of other Brethren, unlike Alistair, this does not in fact mean all 3 on one night 🙂

After the lodge was back in the first degree, Worshipful brother Andy Wade gave a well-received explanation of the First Degree Tracing board.
Finally, under the 3rd Rising, and as Worshipful brother Andy Gray, the Royal Arch representative was unavoidably absent, Worshipful brother Andy Wade presented Brother Stuart Wilson with a Royal Arch Discover More Booklet, following Stuart having received his Grand Lodge Certificate at the September meeting. The Royal Arch Discover More booklet can be read online, here –> Discover the Royal Arch – Somerset Freemasons – www.somersetfreemasons.org

The Festive Board was as delicious as ever, and full of lively conversation and lots of laughter
