Hitting the Mark: A Day Clay Shooting with the Somerset Masonic Shooting Club & The Adair Club

The sun was shining, clays flying, and the air was filled with friendly rivalry, and gunpowder, as the Somerset Masonic Shooting Club (SMSC) hosted the third annual Adair Light Blues clay shooting day.

This was more than just a competition; it was a fantastic day of fellowship, bringing together Masons from across the province for a memorable event that showcased both skill and fraternity.

Everyone, from seasoned shooters to enthusiastic newcomers, enjoyed the challenging course. The competition was fierce, leading to some incredibly close scores which kept everyone on their toes. The level of sportsmanship was truly outstanding, a testament to the character of all our participants.

When the dust had settled and the scores were tallied, the results highlighted some truly remarkable performances. A huge round of applause goes to John De Clivedon Lodge No 7824, who clinched the top spot with an impressive team effort. Individually, the talent on display was exceptional. Norman Player, representing Gordano Lodge, took the top honours with an outstanding score of 42/50. The race for the remaining podium places was so tight that it required a shoot-off! Joshua Fiddler and TM, both from John De Clivedon Lodge, tied for second place with scores of 41/50. The competition for third place was equally intense, with a tie between Aron Bullock (John De Clivedon Lodge) and Chris Marchmont (Somerset Military Lodge), both finishing with a score of 40/50. We look forward to the follow-up shoot-off to confirm the final individual standings.

Following the main event, the day continued into the afternoon with an exciting air rifle and air pistol target shooting session. The club chairman took the lead, providing expert coaching and guidance, allowing participants to hone their precision skills in a more focused setting. This additional activity offered another dimension to the day’s events and proved highly popular with all who took part.

This event truly showcased the best of Somerset Freemasonry—bringing people together for a shared passion and building stronger bonds of brotherhood. It was a reminder that our fraternity is about enjoying each other’s company and creating lasting memories.
