Dungarvan Chapter: If You Want To Get Ahead, Get A Hat!
Dungarvan Chapter 973, meeting at Frome Masonic Hall, held their Installation Convocation on the evening of Thursday 24th September.
The Chapter was honoured by the presence of E.Comp Peter Cook, representing Somerset’s Grand Superintendent. He was accompanied by Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, Tony Rash.
The Companions of Dungarvan Chapter were deeply saddened in May this year, when their sitting First Principal, Terry Hulbert, was summoned to the Grand Chapter Above, as a result of a late-diagnosed terminal illness. A eulogy for Terry was read at the start of this Installation meeting.
Terry’s successor, Roger Hatherell, was therefore Installed as First Principal by Dungarvan Chapter Companion, Matt Williams, who is currently the Royal Arch Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies. And what a superb job he did at pretty short notice, too.
The high standard set by Matt was then continued by Roger who Installed the incoming Second Principal, Tim Adams, who then Installed his successor as Third Principal, Mike Greedy.
Together, they all played their essential parts in delivering a fine ceremony. Terry would have been very proud of them.
The newly Installed Principals and the Companions of Dungarvan Chapter are looking forward to a busy schedule for the ensuing year, which includes five Candidates for Exaltation.
Dungarvan Chapter is unique in that it is the only Chapter in Somerset where the Principals still wear Crowns, although they are worn only during the Opening and Closing of the Chapter
