Race Night at Prudence & Industry Lodge

The Worshipful Master, Michael Auton, hosted a very successful fundraising event on Saturday 19th September. Guests enjoyed all the excitement of a Race Night in the comfort of the Guildhall, Chard.

It was a lively evening, with guests buying horses, placing bets, cheering them on and collecting their winnings. A generous buffet supper during the interval gave everyone the stamina to continue enthusiastically into the second half.

The final race of the evening was The Worshipful Master’s Trophy, with the horses auctioned prior to the start. At the end of the race, the Worshipful Master was delighted to present the trophy to the owners of the winning horse purchased by CG’s Detailing & Washing Services.

He was also pleased to announce that the raffle – including ‘Hetty’, kindly donated by Numatic of Chard – had raised nearly £300, much to the delight of Hetty’s new owner. The Worshipful Master thanked Funtasia of Yeovil for organising the races and the Tote, and expressed his appreciation to everyone who attended and clearly enjoyed the evening. Special thanks were given to representatives of CG’s Detailing & Washing Services for sponsoring a race and for their enthusiastic support throughout.

In total, the event raised £800 for the Worshipful Master’s chosen charity, Time is Precious, which aims to create a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for children and their families in hospital or cared for at home.

The Worshipful Master extends his sincere thanks to all Brethren, family and friends who attended and supported such a deserving cause. Thanks also go to those who, unable to attend, kindly sent their apologies and made donations in support of the charity.
