Adair Club Annual Clay Shoot – Friends, Family and a Great Day Out

The Adair Club’s annual clay shoot returned for another fantastic day, bringing together Freemasons from across Somerset alongside a brilliant mix of friends, partners and family members.

And that was really what the day was all about.

The Adair Club has always aimed to create opportunities to get together away from the Lodge room, and this year’s shoot was a great example of Freemasonry being social, welcoming and something our friends and families can be part of too. Men and women, experienced shots and complete beginners all joined in, making it a proper friends and family day out.

The day started as all good days should – with breakfast and plenty of coffee – before everyone headed out onto the shooting ground.

For some it was a chance to put their shooting skills to the test, while for others it was their first time picking up a shotgun. With plenty of encouragement, advice and friendly competition along the way, it wasn’t long before clays were breaking and the scores started becoming increasingly important!

More than anything, though, it was simply a great opportunity to spend time together. There was plenty of laughter, some surprisingly good shooting, some slightly less impressive shooting, and a chance for newer members to get to know people outside the more formal setting of a Lodge meeting.

After the shooting finished, everyone headed back for coffee, a catch-up and the inevitable discussion about who had shot well, who had been unlucky and who was already planning their comeback next year.

Events like this are a big part of what the Adair Club is about – bringing Somerset’s newer Freemasons together, building friendships and creating a social side to Freemasonry that our partners, families and friends can enjoy with us.
