A Positive Future for Gerard Lodge
Gerard Lodge recently held a successful Installation Meeting at Keynsham Masonic Hall, welcoming distinguished guests and celebrating another important milestone in the Lodge’s history.
The meeting was honoured by the presence of Raymond Guthrie, Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Somerset, accompanied by the Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, Andy McKay.
The principal business of the evening was the proclamation of Graham Millard as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year, followed by the appointment and investiture of the Lodge Officers. The ceremony was conducted to a high standard throughout, reflecting the dedication and commitment of all involved.
Visitors and members alike were impressed by the confidence and precision displayed during the proceedings. Particular praise was given to Graham Millard, for the assured manner in which he appointed his Officers, demonstrating both excellent ritual and leadership as he begins another year in the Chair as master of the Lodge.
A highlight of the evening was the delivery of the traditional addresses, including an engaging and well-presented Address to the Brethren by Paul Wilson, which was warmly received by those present.
The Lodge also took the opportunity to celebrate Masonic learning and personal development through the presentation of Solomon Certificates. Following the successful Installation Meeting, Dermot Meehan and Paul Wilson received their Solomon Certificates from the Provincial Grand Master: a well-deserved recognition of their dedication to Masonic education and continuous learning.

In addition, the Lodge received an insightful presentation from Stuart Hadler concerning the Lodge’s recent membership review and proposed local initiatives. The presentation highlighted a positive and proactive approach to addressing the Membership Challenge, demonstrating Gerard Lodge’s commitment to ensuring a vibrant and sustainable future. Members and visitors alike found the proposals both encouraging and inspiring.
The evening concluded with an enjoyable Festive Board, where brethren and guests continued their fellowship in the warm and welcoming atmosphere for which Keynsham is well known. Excellent food and hospitality provided by the catering team received widespread praise and contributed greatly to the success of the occasion.
Following the meeting, visitors expressed their appreciation for the kindness and hospitality extended by the members of Gerard Lodge. Particular thanks were also conveyed to Stuart Hadler, Director of Ceremonies for the meeting, whose support and assistance in the lead-up to the event helped ensure the smooth running of a memorable evening.
As Gerard Lodge embarks on another Masonic year under the leadership of Graham Millard, the Lodge looks forward with confidence, combining strong traditions, commitment to learning, and a positive vision for membership growth and engagement.
