King Alfred Lodge Concludes the Masonic Year in Style
On Friday 12th June, King Alfred Lodge held its final meeting of the Masonic year, bringing proceedings to a memorable and fitting close.
The Lodge was honoured by the presence of Barrie Palmer APGM, who attended as the guest of the Worshipful Master, Sean Biggins. We were also delighted to welcome a strong travelling party of brethren from Castle Lodge, Bristol, with plans already in place to visit Bristol later in the year—continuing the valued relationship between our neighbouring provinces.
A Ceremony of High Quality
The evening began with the raising of Jan Wreba-Jaworski, who answered his questions with confidence and clarity. The questions were more than capably delivered by Adam Foster-Fahy, himself only raised in April—an impressive performance all round.
Standout moments from the ceremony included the APGM delivering the Fifteen Fellowcrafts in his own distinguished style. The ceremony was further enhanced by:
- Finn James, who delivered the badge address
- Daniel James, who presented the working tools
Both pieces were performed for the first time, making it a proud occasion for this father-and-son duo.
Lodge Business and New Members
The agenda continued efficiently, with the election of the next Worshipful Master. The Lodge was pleased to ballot as master elect Jim Gillbody, who has truly made King Alfred Lodge his home over the past three years, since joining.
The Lodge also welcomed a new joining member, Nigel Brown, father of our Senior Deacon Rob Brown, strengthening the Lodge’s family spirit.
Presentations and Recognition
Continuing a busy evening for the APGM, he kindly presented Grand Lodge Certificates to:
- Adam Simmonds
- Adam Foster-Fahy
Both brethren have progressed together throughout the year, having been initiated, passed, and raised together since November.
To conclude his duties, the APGM presented five 2031 Festival Jewels to deserving members of the Lodge.
Festive Board
The evening was rounded off with a lively and enjoyable festive board, filled with a warm atmosphere, new friendships, and strengthened bonds.
Special thanks go to Dave Attwater, who stepped in as organist for the evening and added his own flair in support of the ceremony.
