David Parslow receives his Solomon Diploma at Severn Lodge

On Saturday 16th May 2026 W.Bro. David Parslow received his Solomon Diploma from W.Bro. Stephen Collings (PSGW), who presented it at Severn Lodge’s festive board, after their installation ceremony. The award was due to David successfully completing the First, Second & Third Degrees, plus the Royal Arch Chapter modules.

It was quite a busy day for them both, as David is the Lodge’s Secretary, but he also stood in to perform the duties as Director of Ceremonies for their Installation meeting, overseeing the proclamation of W.Bro. James Purnell’s re-appointment as Severn’s Worshipful Master for another year and the investment of his Officers.

Stephen, was there in the capacity of the presiding Officer, representing the Provincial Grand Master, for the Installation. As well as delivering the Address to the Wardens, he also kindly obliged to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro. Peter Jefia, who coincidentally had just been invested as the Lodge’s new Junior Warden. Peter was particularly pleased that, during the presentation, Stephen explained to him that an item on the Junior Warden’s pedestal denoted Beauty. Likewise, on the newly invested Senior Warden, Bro. Peter Flack’s pedestal denoted Strength. Both Wardens were extremely proud to be given such esteemed acclamation, much to the amusement of the brethren in attendance.

Stephen was supported by W.Bro. Garry Sharp, who carried out his duties as Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies. Along with Five current ruling Masters of other Lodges, there were a total of nineteen visitors, including W.Bro. Duncan Williams who provided the response to the visitors’ toast, claiming that the main reason they keep coming back to visit Severn, is to witness the famous (or is it, infamous?!) Severn Song, trays ‘n’ all!
