Simon steps in at the last minute to be Exalted

The Vale of Jehoshaphat Chapter had a busy but great night at their recent meeting in Burnham. Due to an unexpected family tragedy the candidate for the evening couldn’t make it. So Simon Orchard MBE got the phone call on Tuesday asking if he could step in, of course he could!

The ceremony was delivered in its usual way, with sincerity and humour and using the old Burnham workings not the new Savage.

Next up was to present a Supreme Grand Chapter Certificate to their recent Companion Paul Jarvis, who was in fact Exalted by the Provincial Team at the last meeting. Graham Puddy was delighted to present the certificate to Paul, as they are both in the same Lodge and Chapter.

The final thing in the meeting was to ballot and welcome Leigh Yule, a Scottish Freemason who has moved to Somerset and keen to join the orders he was already in, in his native Scotland.

With 8 prospective members on the waiting list VofJ is going to have a busy year next year, double ceremonies are planned!

The evening was rounded off in the usual Burnham way, with laughter and an excellent meal provided by John Chinn.
