A Special Occasion for St Alphege Lodge
Chris Baker was Installed as the Worshipful Master of St Alphege Lodge at a very special meeting, under the direction of Garry Sharp the Provincial Director of Ceremonies; at which the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Somerset, Mike Greedy presided.

Chris’s Dad, Mark was there to support him; returning the favour, as it was indeed Chris, the current First Principal of Royal Cumberland Chapter, who welcomed his father into the Chapter recently.

Adding to the occasion, Martial Rahaririaka a former Grand Master of Madagascar, who was instrumental in creating the Grande Loge Nationale de Madagascar (GLNM) in March 1996, accompanied by a retinue of brethren from a Lodge in France, was also in attendance; Garry certainly rose to the challenge of pronouncing his name correctly when he gave the appropriate salutations!

However, it was not the first time a Grand Master had visited them, for back in November 2017, Don Reynolds, who was then The Grand Master of Victoria Australia visited St Alphege Lodge when in England for the Tercentenary Celebrations of United Grand Lodge.

Whatever their status, all Masons will receive a warm welcome and, with Chris at the helm, are sure to witness a great ceremony of extended ritual inherited from Royal Cumberland Lodge.
