Somerset Annual Provincial Convocation and AGM 2026
The Annual Meetings of Somerset Provincial Grand Chapter and Provincial Grand Lodge took place on Thursday 2 April 2026, on a bright and well-attended day, bringing together approximately 450 members and guests from across the Province, along with distinguished visitors from neighbouring Provinces.
The day commenced with the Provincial Grand Chapter meeting in the morning, followed by the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting, with both sessions led by Excellent Grand Superintendent and Provincial Grand Master, Ray Guthrie.
The meetings reflected the strength, unity and continued growth of Freemasonry in Somerset, with strong representation from both within the Province and visiting Provinces.
A key part of both meetings was the appointment and promotion of Provincial Officers, recognising the dedication and contribution of members, and the important role they will continue to play in supporting the Province in the years ahead.
During the Chapter meeting, an address highlighted the importance of Solomon, Freemasonry’s online learning platform, in supporting members’ understanding and development. Over 50 members in Somerset have now achieved the Solomon Diploma, with a number of recipients present and recognised during the meeting.
The meetings also highlighted the continuing charitable impact of Freemasonry across Somerset. This included a grant of over £43,000 awarded to Young Somerset by the Freemasons’ Charity, supporting vital work with young people and families across the county.
A significant moment of the day was the launch of the Somerset 2031 Festival, a major charitable initiative aiming to raise £2.5 million in support of charitable causes. The Festival will further strengthen the Province’s ability to support both local communities and wider charitable work.
The day concluded with a well-attended luncheon, with over 300 members dining together, reflecting the strong sense of fellowship and community across the Province.
