Masons on Target
On a cold and crisp winter morning the sun shone bright in the sky and the air was as still as a mill pond at The Mendip Shooting Ground near Wells for the Somerset Masonic Shooting Club’s monthly breakfast shoot. We all started the day off with a Mighty Mendip Breakfast washed down with lashings of hot tea and coffee before we all headed out shooting.

A wonderful start and a healthy competition started, as always, with the usual jovial banter (boys will be boys!), each stand presenting some wonderful targets, the bolting rabbit target was really entertaining.
We were all coached by our chairman Rob Collins, BEM and got an insight into competition shooting and how to approach each target on its own merit.
After the shoot we headed back to the Mendip Shooting Ground café for a warm up over more tea and coffee and slices of their famous cake selection.
Scores were totted up and a round of applause was given to our secretary Chris Marchmont who took the day’s top gun trophy with an impressive score of 41 out of 50.
Everyone said a cheery goodbye, all smiling after a wonderful morning’s shooting, with that well known phrase in our minds, Happy To Meet, Sorry To Part, Happy To Meet Again.
