Royal Somerset Lodge’s New Master, Ian Rogers, Is Installed.
Thursday 9th October was certainly a night to remember for the Brethren and guests of Royal Somerset Lodge, meeting at the Masonic Hall in Frome.
Ian Rogers was Installed as Master of the Lodge in a manner that typified the camaraderie and mutual support with which the Lodge prides itself.

The outgoing Master, Andy Hickling, was unable to attend due to ongoing health issues, and therefore Ian was Installed by Past Masters of the Lodge, Roger Hatherell and Steve Booker, willingly assisted by other Lodge members who were determined to deliver a fitting Installation Ceremony for him.
Somerset’s Provincial Grand Master was represented by Ray Conneely (Prov Mentor), accompanied by Garry Sharp (Prov Director of Ceremonies)

Ian, who runs his own estate agency and lettings business in the town, is well known for his love of arranging and attending all manner of social gatherings and for his generous spirit for Freemasonry in Frome and for life in general. The Brethren of the Lodge are in for a fun-packed year!

Ian and his wife, Lynda, have for many years given dedicated support to many local charities in Frome, as well as for the work they currently both do on behalf of the Masonic Hall itself.
Ian’s love of cycling has, in recent years, enabled considerable sums of sponsored financial support for a number of charitable causes.

The atmosphere at the Festive Board was very lively, with much laughter and a good deal of well-deserved praise for the manner in which Roger and Steve Installed Ian as Master, utilising Royal Somerset’s unusual, but not unique, ceremony.
Ian’s dedication and hard work in readiness for his new position were also applauded, being readily apparent by the confident and appropriate manner with which he appointed and invested his Lodge Officers.
Royal Somerset Lodge is looking forward to a busy, fulfilling and fun-packed Masonic year, whereby its members and the community they serve will undoubtedly benefit from all that Freemasonry embraces.
