Red Cross of Constantine Annual Divisional Meeting

The Annual Divisional Meeting of the Red Cross of Constantine (Somerset and Bristol Division) was held in Nailsea, drawing an impressive attendance of 90 members from across the Division.

Among them were several distinguished Divisional Intendant Generals, whose presence added a sense of occasion to the day.

Despite the absence of their own Intendant General, who was regrettably unable to attend due to illness, the atmosphere remained warm and fraternal. His absence was keenly felt, but members rallied together in true Christian and Masonic spirit, ensuring the event was both meaningful and memorable.

During the proceedings, Steve Chant was invested as the new Divisional Eusebius, a role of great significance within the Order. His investiture was warmly received and marked a moment of pride for both him and the Division.

The Order of the Red Cross of Constantine is a Christian Masonic Order that draws inspiration from the story of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, and his vision of the cross before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. Rooted in the values of faith, loyalty, and spiritual knighthood, the Order is open only to Master Masons who profess the Trinitarian Christian faith and who are also Companions of the Holy Royal Arch. The Order blends chivalric tradition with deep Christian symbolism and is known for its solemn ceremonies, spiritual emphasis, and the close fraternal ties it fosters among its members.

The meeting itself was conducted with dignity and precision, followed by a sumptuous banquet that allowed companions to reconnect and celebrate the unity and growth of the Order.

Reflecting on the day, the Deputy in charge offered these words,
“although we missed the guiding hand of our Intendant General, the strength of this Division lies in its people – and today we saw that strength in abundance.”

There was further cause for celebration as it was noted that numbers within the Division are on the rise. Encouragingly, one Conclave is now coming out of abeyance – a clear sign of renewed energy and commitment within the Order.

The Red Cross of Constantine continues to uphold its proud traditions, and this year’s Divisional Meeting served as a reminder of the strong bonds that unite its members, whatever the circumstances.

Cheers! – Divisional DC Trevor Merrett, Deputy Divisional Intendent General Julian Frost and Divisional Eusebius Steve Chant
