No Elephants In The Room Here!!
As previously reported, the Masonic Charities Foundation (MCF) recently awarded a support grant of £15,000 over three years to Purple Elephant, a small charity providing many different family support services, based in Frome, Somerset.
Like many other small charities across the UK at the moment, Purple Elephant still manage to deliver an amazing amount of service to its community through the determination and dedication of their staff and volunteers, despite the current prevailing financial climate.
In order to learn more about their outstanding work, Frome Freemason, Andy Baird, of Royal Somerset Lodge, visited one of the charity’s ‘Stay & Play’ sessions at the Key Centre, Christ Church School in Frome. He was joined by Graham Puddy, Adrian Robson and Les Pickersgill who are currently the Charity Steward, Almoner and Photographer for the Province of Somerset.

Purple Elephant provide strategic support for pre-school and school-aged youngsters which then also has a very positive beneficial effect for the parents involved, many of whom face various challenges of their own whilst trying to do the best they can for their children.
During the visit, one of the parents said to Andy “When my child was small, my mental health was terrible. If it wasn’t for Purple Elephant, I wouldn’t be here now.”
The frank and candid conversations regarding the work carried out by Purple Elephant certainly highlighted the huge benefit that the MCF grant gives them; the ability to plan and deliver their vital services much further ahead.
