“Alpaca Surprise” for the Ladies of RPL 291
Everyone “scrubbed up” well on this recent Saturday night, to attend the Rural Philanthropic Lodge Ladies night at Batch Country House.

With just under 100 members, partners and guests it really was a special evening, in good spirits, fun and the camaraderie that RPL 291 is known for
The Master Mike David and his wife Kirstie treated the ladies to some lovely and unique gifts, as one of their hobbies is raising Alpacas. Kirstie thanked everyone for coming, the amount raised on the night was over £1,100, of which Mike has said £500 will go the Sparkle Charity in Burnham on Sea, to help those children who would not normally enjoy Christmas. This is in addition to the £1,000 worth of presents already donated by the Lodge before Christmas 2024.

Andy Hodge was the Master of Ceremonies on the night, filling the role in his own inimitable style with humour and aplomb. The Ladies song was something to behold, with Wynne Jones and Paul Jarvis leading the off, the gentlemen joining together for the chorus.

The food was as ever superb at Batch Country House and everyone having a superb evening after dancing the night away. The added bonus was one of the guests enquired about becoming a joining member as he had not been to a meeting for over 20 years, saying what a great group of people and a great night, as well as two other prospective members, who also said they were interested in joining.

Mike also gave a special thanks to all those that helped organise and plan the evening, Andy Hodge, Camile Hodge, Annette Chinn, John Chinn, Olga Chedzey, Ian Chedzey, Nick Reed and Ian Evans.
