A Christmas Cracker At Loyal Vacation
Getting into the Christmas spirit, the Loyal Vacation Lodge 6209 held a carol service on the evening of Saturday 14th December in Wiveliscombe. The service was conducted by Reverend Helen Steiner, with singing of Christmas carols by 68 attendees, being a mixture of lodge members and their families plus non-masonic guests. The music was provided by a four-piece acoustic band consisting of an accordion, a whistle, plus acoustic and bass guitars. Passages from the Bible were read by four ladies.
Following the service, a three course bumper Christmas dinner was laid on for the attendees, which proved to be a great success. There was a raffle and a game of heads and tails; for the finale the 12 days of Christmas was sung by everybody present.
A special mention for LV’s Dining Steward Derek Reed for organising the event, bar manager Anthony James and to Mark Griffin who organised the colourful decoration of the lodge with help from others.
This was a very good fundraiser for LV’s building and charity and the Brethren have had very positive feedback from all the attendees.
