Evan is handed the Gavel at Somersetshire Lodge

At their recent meeting Evan Hand was installed as Master of the Somersetshire Lodge in fine form by the installing Master, none other than Garry Sharp the Provincial DC. With Tony Guthrie (Somerset’s APGM) the DC of the Lodge, the rehearsal was indeed interesting – or Clash of the Titans as it is known!

Evan then followed suit by installing his officers superbly well and the meal afterwards was the famous carvery, with everyone leaving full and contented.

Somersetshire Lodge meetings are held in Mark Masons Hall, London. The Lodge was originally created for those Masons that worked or lived in or near London, but had ties to the Province of Somerset. The link is so strong that every year the current active Somerset Provincial Team visit Somersetshire Lodge to conduct a ceremony, usually a Raising on behalf of one of the Somerset Lodges.

Somersetshire Lodge is a very friendly Lodge and they welcome visitors, joining members and Evan will be initiating two new members next year.

The next meeting of the Somersetshire Lodge is in March 2025 when the provincial team will be visiting
