A “Night to Remember” at VofJ
At the recent meeting of the Vale of Jehoshaphat, they witnessed an excellent enthronement ceremony, as well as a Grand Chapter Certificate presented to their newest companion Warren Beavis.
Ted Toon and Mark Bajona, having already been in the chair of this ancient Chapter (first consecrated in 1793) were proclaimed as Z and H and Ian Evans was enthroned as J. Jeff Body installing them in his usual great style and David Rayner a member of the Chapter for only a few years stood in as J recently, but delivered the ceremony excellently (considering the time he had to learn it, and the fact he was a companion in another province, who do completely different workings)
Ray Beckingham was present to represent the MEGS Ray Guthrie, who delivered the Address to the new team in fine fashion! VofJ do not use the new Savage workings, however their long standing member John Kidd and Scribe E, until replaced by David Rayner on the night, recently updated their workings, which are very similar and take about the same time to conduct – Ted Toon Thanked John for all his hard work over the years and wished him well as he stood down from being Scribe E.
The night was full of good humour and revelry, as everyone has come to expect at Burnham on Sea, followed by an excellent meal of Home Made Thai Fishcakes, Steak Pie, finishing off with everyone’s favourite, cheese and Biscuits.
