Perpetual Friendship do the ‘Double”
On Monday, 11 th November, the Lodge of Perpetual Friendship undertook a double initiation
ceremony. Without meticulously looking through the various minutes across the last 260 years since
the lodge was warranted, the last time anyone could recollect a double initiation taking place was
Chris Dyer, who took part in a such ceremony 42 years ago! With many members never seeing one,
let alone taking part in one.
Lots of preparation went into ensuring the ceremony went as seamless as possible, but most
importantly, remained a poignant as possible to both candidates. This included visiting other lodges
to observe a double initiation being practiced & receiving good friendly advice.
Both candidates, brothers (in both senses of the word) Josh & Ross Coleman, natives of
Westonzoyland, were welcomed into the lodge during a fantastic ceremony as remarked by the
many visitors. That concludes four consecutive initiation ceremonies at the Lodge of Perpetual
Friendship since May & sets the lodge up for a lot of work in the near future.
