Jason Knight returns to Royal Somerset Lodge after Dreadful Accident

In April of this year Jason Knight, a member of the Royal Somerset Lodge, had the most awful day at work. The dad-of-three lost his left forearm and several toes after electricity, approx. 33,000 volts, jumped about 2m (6.6ft) from a power cable to his cleaning pole because of light winds.

Over the past 6 months Jason has undergone over 20 operations to help him with his recovery, as he was self-employed his income was reduced drastically! So in stepped his “Masonic Family”,   including the MCF, to help him in many ways, financially, mentally and all areas of support, the Provincial Grand Almoner Adrian Robson, lending personal Support. Adrian says “it was an honour to be able to help Jason in some small way”.

In October Jason and his father, John,  also a member of Royal Somerset, were delighted to be able to attend the meeting, where he was greeted and cheered by all the Brethren, who welcomed him back whole heartedly.

Both John & Jason with the assistance of their local MP are now campaigning to raise awareness and make the first two sections of a water fed cleaning pole sold in the UK meet BS8020 to reduce the chances of this type of electrocution happening to another person in the future.
