Avalon Chapter make donations to local Foodbanks
Avalon Chapter meeting in Wedmore, donated to two local Foodbank charities in Wells and Glastonbury during August. Mark Caldwell (Z) and Richard Hibbert (Charity Steward) visited both charities and presented the volunteers with a cheque for £750 each.
The Wells Storehouse operates not only as a foodbank, supporting families struggling in these economic times, but also as a furniture store that repurposes donated furniture for those in need. This helps local families who may not be able to replace or buy vital furniture.
The Glastonbury Bridging the Gap foodbank is a small, independent foodbank that assembles food parcels to last a family a week, including both ambient and fresh produce. These parcels are delivered by a team of volunteers across the area. During 2023-2024, Glastonbury Foodbank made 622 deliveries, supporting 784 adults and 304 children.
Foodbanks provide not only food to those in need, but more importantly, they offer compassion and support to people in crisis. They help tackle the root causes of poverty, building resilience and emotional well-being in the community.
