SMFA Taunton – 3rd July

The weather was dull on July 3rd but there was nothing dull about the events at a garden party hosted by Lynn Evans, Associate Leader of the Taunton branch of Somerset Masonic Friendship Associaion.

30 members joined Lynn’s neighbours for a fun filled day. Committee members Shirley Farmer, Sandra Wilson, Peter Lock, Di Mulhall and Avril Hooley put in a great team effort to kick off the day by serving coffee and biscuits.
Eight members including 86 year old Peter took part in chair exercises led by Dr Dileep Nair who demonstrated exercises for flexibility and stability to help prevent trips and falls.
A fabulous spread of food, also supplied by committee members and Ray Baines Vice Patron of SMFA was enjoyed by all.

The were some great prizes in the raffle which was called after lunch. Doreen Smith, Lynn’s neighbour then gave a demonstration making a small table decoration and eight ladies participated in making their own version and jolly fine they all were. Someone suggested planning another go later in the year to make a Christmas decoration.

Provincial Coordinator Pete Russell attended and took some photographs to put the day on record. To end the day Lynn served up ice cream cornets and everyone went home happy.

Big Thankyou to our chef Karen Dingle and her sister Hayley Hunt manager of the Taunton Masonic Hall for their help in supervising cooking and clearing up afterwards.

A surplus of £180 will go into the Association funds and will pay for a coach trip to Sidmouth for the Folk Festival, in August.
