Woodspring Lodge 8791 Supporting Allergy UK

Woodspring Lodge 8791, who meet in Yatton, Bristol were pleased support Mrs Laura Hobbs from Clevedon as she undertook and completed the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge on Saturday 18th May. This was a walk which started at 7am at Corfe Castle and ended 100 Kilometres (64 miles) later at Bridport, Dorset, following the Jurassic coast line. Laura (daughter of Dave Trotter of Woodspring Lodge) undertook the walk to raise funds for the charity Allergy UK. It was a continuous walk passing well known Dorset places: Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, many ups and downs to Weymouth (halfway) past Portland Bill, Chesil Beach and West Bay before the finish line at Bridport. Laura finished the walk 22 hours later at 5am on Sunday morning!

The aim of Allergy UK is to raise the profile of allergy at all levels, with a vision for everyone affected by an allergy to receive the best possible care and support. Laura’s 8 year old son Tyler suffers from a severe nut allergy and always needs to carry a (potential life) saving Epipen with him.

Laura raised £1141 for the charity including a donation from Woodspring Lodge of £250. Sweat shirts were purchased by Dave & Pete showing the charity as well as the square and compasses and Woodspring Lodge. Pete Ansell, Woodspring Lodge Charity Steward was pleased to present Laura with a cheque for £250 to add to the magnificent amount she raised for the charity.
