Tri-Minster Meeting

On Tuesday 6th June Nyanza Lodge played host to a unique and very special meeting of Masons. The “Minster meeting” is held bi-annually and brings together three Lodges from Somerset, Devon and Dorset. Namely; Nyanza Lodge, Ilminster, Lodge of Virtue & Honour Axminster and Beaminster Manor Lodge Beaminster.

The gathered ensemble were treated to the raising of Adam Brown in a packed hall at Ilminster, by Michael Donahue, who did it in fine style, considering this was only his second meeting as Master and the amount of “Gold Chains” in the room. Adam was an excellent candidate, who answered the questions well and will be a great Mason moving forward.

The Tri-Minster meeting is held bi-annually at a special meeting, as the three Lodges usually meet on the same Tuesday of each month, so cannot visit each other regularly. This year it was the turn of Nyanza Lodge to host the meeting, with the two PGMs from Devon and Dorset, their deputies and several APGMs, including Richard Winter our very own APGM from Somerset, accompanied by Colin Martin Senior Warden and Ian Evans Junior Warden. The Masters of Beaminster Manor and Love & Honour Lodges, accompanied by some of their members made for a lovely evening.

A superb meal was then had at the beautiful Honsbury Mill Hotel near Chard, in a very convivial and friendly atmosphere, where we learned some of the different ways of firing and toasting.
