Richard Huish 8518 Are Out To Lunch

The Richard Huish Lodge 8518 held their annual Ladies’ Lunch on the 23rd April at Taunton Masonic Hall, where 62 members, partners and guests convened for another fabulous occasion. This is the Lodge Members’ way to say a heartfelt “Thank you” to wives and partners for letting them out to play…..it’s only 4 times a year, darling!!  Once again, resident Taunton chef Karen served them well – literally – with a magnificent three course lunch, made all the more impressive as several of her team were absent having tested positive for Covid in the preceding days.

Worshipful Master Roger Biss’ good lady Tracey-Ann wanted the fund-raising this year to support The Sunflower Centre at St Margaret’s Hospice, and special guest David Jones told everyone present something about that facility.  The Sunflower Centre provides day care to support people still well enough to live at home, but who would nevertheless benefit from specialist and tailored support: for example, therapeutic, psychological or physiotherapy, to retain some independence and maintain a quality of life.  It is also a way to support the whole family.

As ever, the event was superbly organised by Charity Steward Richard Wilson, with the unstinting support of his Assistant Charity Steward (and wife) Sarah! All present were very pleased that the raffle on the day, plus past Lodge raffles, added up to a grand donation of £1,200 to this very worthwhile cause.
