Two Adams Return for 2nd Degree at King Alfred

We do love a good story here at King Alfred.

If you read our report from back in November last year titled “Two Adams Make Double 1 st at
King Alfred”, you will now be familiar with our two new initiates, we got Little Adam and Big
Adam, although I wouldn’t even say little Adam is very little at all.

We have now passed them both onto the degree of Fellowcraft in another sublime double
evening held on Friday 13 th February, some may say this is an unlucky day, however there
are some who say its about honouring the death and rebirth cycle, well for the two Adam’s,
this evening signifies their middle point in their masonic craft journey, a rather wonderful
fitting point for this famous day.

I’m sure we are all looking forward to the day that this story concludes with their double
Raising, this will be one surely not to miss…

All the brethren who took part in the ceremony executed their roles with passion as usual,
and a special mention to our Inner Guard who is really growing in confidence and to one of
our stewards who conducted the 2nd degree working tools in his unique style which is always
well received.

Another Solomon paper was also read out by one of our light blues, this time The Master’s
Gavel.

As we are on the topic of recognition, I also want to say that our new Almoner Richard
Tams is doing an excellent job in engaging and retrieving brethren who have been drifting
away from lodge in these recent years, he’s been busy making contact and checking in on
them, a very valuable role he is playing that sometimes can get overshadowed by the pomp
and spectacle of ceremony and ritual, good work brother.

And finally, for a pretty rare photo opportunity, how can we ignore the fact that we had five
members of King Alfred who are all current ruling masters in other lodges present on this
evening, a fine example of the calibre of K.A brethren.
