On 24 June 1717, four established London Lodges came together at the Goose and Gridiron Tavern in St Paul’s Churchyard, London. Thereupon, our Grand Lodge, the first in the world, was formed with Anthony Sayer as its Grand Master. Thus the United Grand Lodge of England is 300 years old this year!
The Tercentenary provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase what Freemasonry can offer society, celebrate our achievements and dispel some of the lingering myths surrounding the fraternity.
The Provincial Grand Lodge of Somerset, as well as UGLE, is arranging numerous events to mark the Tercentenary and it is hoped that lodges and Masonic Centres in Somerset will take the opportunity to arrange local events for their members and the general public.
The Provincial Diary link contains details of all events, including those arranged by lodges and centres. Please contact W.Bro. Richard Ellis firstname.lastname@example.org who is leading the Tercentenary Working Group, to add your event to the diary.
